EDGEMORE Loft

EDGEMORE Loft Flooring Products

EDGEMORE Loft is a pre-pigmented, seamless, trowel-grade concrete overlay. It is designed to be installed without staining. The color you install with the trowel coat is the color it will be. The EDGEMORE Loft overlay can mimic the look of tile or marble with the application of two micro-toppings. This extremely sturdy concrete flooring option is a great pick for both home and commercial construction.

Feature and Benefits

  • An affordable alternative to replacing concrete floors due to pop-outs, cracks, discoloration, or other damage
  • Levels out small inconsistencies in floor surface
  • It is customizable and can be textured to mimic tile, natural stone, brick, and more.
  • EDGEMORE™ Loft’s full-color overlay is durable, long-lasting, and doesn’t chip, peel, or fade
  • The overlay makes the floor strong and resistant to foot traffic, UV rays, and water.
  • Requires a prepared foundation for application

Spaces for Use

  • Patios
  • Restaurants and Bars
  • Commercial Kitchens
  • Driveways
  • Showrooms
  • Garages
  • Instructions for Use
  • We do not recommend solvent-based acrylics or polyaspartics.
  • Apply the Bond Coat

    • You must first install the bond coat if you want to give your floors a grout pattern. The selected grout color should be applied as the bond coat. The majority of bond coatings are made to be applied to damp flooring.
    • The bond coat mixture’s square foot ratio differs across manufacturers. Look for directions on the bag. Bond coatings are typically placed at a ratio of 250–300 square feet for each bag.
    • As soon as you have the right amount of water in your mixing container, add the selected colorant and stir it in. Mix in the overlay after that. For the majority of flooring, two bond coatings are advised for optimum adhesion.
  • Install Micro Toppings

    • The majority of micro-topping bag mixtures are made to be used on dry floors. Micro-toppings typically have a spread ratio of 300 to 400 square feet per bag. Before applying, don’t be afraid to double-check the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • Fill the container with the appropriate amount of water, then combine the selected colorant and the overlay.
    • To prevent the product from thickening too quickly after mixing, divide the slurry into two five-gallon buckets. The ideal method for applying micro-topping is with a steel trowel.
    • Apply the product in quantities the size of a basketball on the floor and trowel it out in various directions to get rid of the rainbow appearance that a typical concrete finish produces. Alternately, you can spread the substance out randomly around the floor to get rid of the arch appearance. With a micro-topping finish, maintaining a wet line is not a concern.
    • Apply a second coat of micro-topping after the floor has dried completely, following the desired floor’s colorant ratio.
  • Sanding the EDGEMORE™ Loft Floor

    • To level out the high places left by the trowel, sand the edges using a palm sander and 80-100 grit sandpaper. To reduce dust, it is advisable to use a palm sander that can be connected to a HEPA vacuum.
    • After completing the edges, sand the high points on the floor using a 17-inch swing machine equipped with 100 grit and 120 grit sanding screens, black scrubbing pads, and a vacuum port.
    • Use a broom with fine bristles to sweep up the dust. Re-sanding the floor using the sanding screen is the next step. The floor will begin to take on a bright sheen in this stage.
    • When you’ve got the desired effect, sweep the floor with a broom with fine bristles before vacuuming it with a wand with a brush attachment. By using the brush attachment, vacuum markings on the floor are avoided.
  • Sealing the Floor

    • Water-based sealer
    • Urethane (water-based or solvent-based)
    • Water-based epoxy
    • Please only use the following types of floor sealers:
    • Or 100% solid epoxy

  • Is a concrete overlay right for my space?

Concrete overlays are an affordable way to give your floors a makeover. Instead of replacing old, cracked, or discolored concrete, concrete overlays are an excellent way to give them new life. Overlays made of concrete can last as long as your concrete floor.

  • How thick should an overlay be?

This can vary based on the job at hand.  This product can be spread thinner than 1/4" and up to 2 1/2" thick. You can do a thicker overlay if you have a rough foundation surface.

  • How long does EDGEMORE Loft Concrete overlay last?

When properly installed and maintained, EDGEMORE Loft can last for more than 25 years.

EDGEMORE Primo

EDGEMORE Primo Flooring Products

Decorative concrete overlay EDGEMORE Primo has a micro-topping for acid or dye staining. This concrete floor supply is intended to be used in two micro-topping applications to simulate marble or tile. Choose an acid-stained concrete floor, and you may anticipate an etched surface in a variety of earthy tones. Concrete dyes are the best bet if you want bright, distinctive colors with layered and varied effects.

Feature and Benefits

  • EDGEMORE Primo provides a one-of-a-kind and variable canvas for creating stunning designs that are sure to dazzle.
  • It can be used for branding purposes: it works great in residential and commercial applications alike
  • Works best with gray micro-topping
  • Lengthens the life of the floor by protecting against damage from foot traffic
  • Less vulnerable to UV exposure, discoloration, peeling, and other flaws; great outdoor projects
  • You have a large selection of color options when using dyed flooring to create eye-catching images, logos, stenciled designs, etc.

Spaces for Use

  • Game Rooms
  • Walkways
  • Living Rooms
  • Lounges
  • Basketball Courts
  • Driveways
  • Kitchens
  • Showrooms

Instructions for Use

  • Apply the Bond Coat

    • Installing the bond coat is the initial task for yourEDGEMORE Primo floor. The bond coat should be placed in the specified grout color if you wish to incorporate grout as part of the design.
    • The ratio of bond coat differs across manufacturers. Bond coatings are typically applied at a ratio of 250–300 square feet per bag.
    • In your mixing container, start with the appropriate amount of water, add and blend in the selected colorant, and then blend in the overlay.
    • Bond coatings should be used on damp flooring because that is how they are intended to be applied. For optimal results, we always recommend using two bond coatings.
  • Install Micro Toppings

    • Applying micro-topping mixtures on a dry floor is advised. Maintain a spread ratio of 300 to 400 square feet per bag for micro toppings. The colorant and water should first be combined, and then the micro topping should be added.
    • To prevent the finished product from thickening up too quickly, divide the mixture into two five-gallon buckets. When putting a micro-topping, the optimum application method is to utilize a steel trowel.
    • By applying the mixture in a quantity roughly equivalent to a basketball and spreading it out into the floor with a trowel, you may get rid of the rainbow appearance that a typical concrete floor supply creates. The product can also be distributed randomly throughout the floor. With a micro-topping finish, damp lines are not a concern.
    • For the appearance of marble or tile, two applications of micro-topping are required. When the first coat is fully dry, apply the second coat.
  • Sand the EDGEMORE Primo Floor

    • To sand the edges and smooth down the high spots that the trowel left behind, use a palm sander with 80- to 100-grit sandpaper connected to a HEPA vacuum.
    • Using a 17-inch swing machine with black scrubbing pads and a 100/200 grit sanding screen, further smooth the high points (one screen each per 250 sq. ft.)
    • Clean away the dust, then re-sand the floor until it begins to take on a faint shine. Vacuum and sweep the floor.
  • Stain the Primo Series Floor

    • 350–500 square feet can be stained with dye or acid stains in one gallon. Both acid and dye stains should be applied with two coats. Use the sprayer’s mister tip for the greatest results.

    For Dye Stain:

    • Utilize an acetone sprayer with a suitable air port to create air using an air compressor.
    • Ask your representative whether buffing the dye stain residue from the floor is necessary before the sealer is applied.

    For Acid Stain:

    • Use a sprayer for acid. Spray into the bucket after pumping up the sprayer. To check for drips in the sprayer, press and release the handle.
    • Before applying the second coat of acid stain, make sure the first coat is completely dry to prevent leaving footprints on the finished floor.
    • When the desired color is obtained, mop the floor with a soft-bristle broom while using an 8:1 water-to-ammonia ratio. After that, dry the floor completely before applying the sealer. Remove any remaining water from the floor with a wet vacuum.
  • Seal the Floor

    • We recommend only the following types of coatings for sealing the floor: water-based sealer, 100% solid epoxy, water-based epoxy, or water-based or solvent-based urethane. We do not recommend solved-based acrylics or polyaspartics for sealing.

  • Is it better to stain or dye concrete?

    • The distinction between acid staining and dying must first be understood in order to be able to respond to this issue. Acid stain chemically reacts with the concrete to produce enduring colors and patterns. Only earthy tones are there, but the color is UV resistant and doesn't fade with time. However, concrete dyes penetrate the concrete slab and offer a lot of creative freedom by producing a layered or single-color look. In addition to having an infinite color palette, the technique is quicker than staining. But over time, dyes might deteriorate. Therefore, the optimal strategy will be determined by your needs. For more fascinating results, combine dye with acid stains as the principal coloring agent.

  • Does acid stain weaken concrete?

    • No, acid staining is one of the first methods used and one of the longest-lasting for your concrete floors. It is a low-maintenance option, and it doesn’t require waxing. It will not stain, fade, or chip.
  • Can I put it on top of the existing concrete?

    • Yes! EDGEMORE Primo is a durable concrete overlay and is a great choice for upgrading, repairing, and decorating concrete floors.
  • What kind of maintenance is required for EDGEMORE Primo overlay?

    • We recommend regular sweeping and wet mopping. Resealing the floor once every three years is recommended if it is going to see lots of foot traffic or machinery.

  • Patios
  • Walkways
  • Driveways

  • Parking Garages

Instructions for Use

  • Apply the Bond Coat

    • Two bond coatings are necessary for EDGEMORE slate trowel flooring. Choosing the final color you want to attain is the first step. Your options are Brown Dark, Brown Light, Pecan Dark, Pecan Light, Loft Gray Dark, Loft Gray Light, Limestone Dark, and Limestone Light from our pre-designed EDGEMORE collection.
    • The first coat you apply must be the color you want the grout to be. Various manufacturers will have different bond coat ratios. 250–300 square feet per bag is the bond coat ratio we use.
    • Add the right amount of water, mix in the color you want, and add and mix the overlay to a mixing container. You must apply the bond coat on a damp floor. Use a rub brick to level out any high spots before applying a second coat.
    • After allowing the two bond coats to dry, you may apply a pattern or proceed directly to the slate trowel coat.
  • Apply Any Patterns

    • Determine the desired pattern’s size and form, as well as the grout’s size. Grout comes in many sizes, including 1/4″, 3/8″, 1″, and 1″.
    • To get the required design, use fiber tape of the proper size. Before applying the last coat of the overlay, be sure this design is exactly what you or your client want.
    • Before applying the top layer of overlay, make sure all fiber tape is pressed down and secured using a tool similar to a wallpaper rolle
  • Install Slate Trowel Top Coat

    • The average slate trowel coverage rate is 125–135 square feet per bag.
    • According to our advice, each bag of the slate trowel mix should contain one ounce of the finishing project’s preferred colorant. The installer would use one ounce of this colorant per bag of mixed overlay, for instance, if the installer wanted the end project to look like EDGEMORE Brown Dark.
    • On warm days outside, softly spray the surface where the product will be applied before applying it. The product can be applied to a dry surface on chilly days.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the proper amount of water and colorant. Pour two amounts of the product—each the size of two basketballs—onto the surface when it is ready for use.
    • Use a steel or magic trowel to spread the material so that it completely encloses the fiber-tape design. Apply the proper texture to the material using a steel trowel after the fiber tape has been evenly applied. Till the project is finished in its entirety, repeat this method.
  • Stain Slate Troweled Overlay

    • Before you can begin staining, make sure to level out any high spots on the floor with a rub brick.
    • Mix the appropriate amount of water, desired color, and a neutral-based carrier into a mixing container and mix thoroughly.
    • 1st Stain coat: 0.75 ounces of colorant per mixed gallon of stain
    • 2 nd Stain coat: 0.50 ounces of colorant per mixed gallon of stain
    • 3rd Stain coat: Repeat the second stain coat if needed
    • 4th Stain coat: Take your existing water and neutral base carrier and double the amount of water in the existing mix. Then add 0.25 ounces of charcoal per mixed gallon of stain.
    • We recommend using a mister tip when applying the stain for consistent application. The goal is to evenly coat the trowel coat, but not so much that the stain puddles over the top of the trowel coat. Use the same procedure for all coats of staining.
  • Seal the Floor

    • We recommend the following types of coatings: water-based sealer, solvent-based acrylics, or any other if installing this floor on an interior slab.

EDGEMORE Slate Gallery

  • Is this only for new concrete projects?

    • EDGEMORE slate trowel overlay is suitable for installation on old and new concrete alike. It is an economical option for restoring and beautifying damaged concrete. Once you have completed the easy-to-install process, your old floor will have the look of slate for less.
  • When should I conduct the installation of EDGEMORE slate trowel flooring?

    • The substrate must have dried and cured completely before EDGEMORE slate trowel overlay may be applied.
  • What kind of maintenance is required for EDGEMORE slate trowel overlay?

    • EDGEMORE slate trowel flooring is durable and easy to maintain. Keep your floors looking new with regular mopping and sweeping.
  • Why is this product so popular?

    • The feel of troweled floors is one of workmanship. Most of the credit goes to the installer's artistic talent. A hand-troweled floor has irregularities and a rough texture that cause stains to respond unevenly, giving it a mottled or marbled appearance that enhances the attractiveness of the floor. With a hand trowel, you have countless options, from making solid, monotone surfaces to simulating marble or any other stone by randomly blending various hues.
